"I realized that the dream was too small," Jada Pinkett Smith's husband shared with CBS. "You know, I realized that there was no way that I was put here just to be a movie star."
He passes on that same mentality to his kids, Trey, 23, Jaden, 17, and Willow, 15. “I tell my kids, ‘Be as unrealistic as possible, and then figure out how to make it real,'" Smith said. "'The best things that have ever happened ever were unrealistic before they happened.' You know, so for me, I think being the biggest movie star in the world as a goal actually was too small."
Smith is one of many celebrities to speak out against Trump and his ideology. Other stars to recently make headlines for calling out the Republican party hopeful include Jennifer Lawrence, Lady Gaga, J.K. Rowling, Matt Damon, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, George Takei, and many more.
This isn't the Philly native's first time discussing a possible future in politics. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Smith said he was nearing that point.
"I’m a climber, so if I see a mountain, I have to climb it. I’m not a camper; I don’t like hanging in one place too long. So I think, at this point, I’m elevating my ability to be useful in the world," Smith explained. "And, you know, as I look at the political landscape, I think that there might be a future out there for me. They might need me out there. This is the first year that I’ve been incensed to a level that I can’t sleep, you know? So I’m feeling that at some point, in the near future, I will have to lend my voice to the conversation in a somewhat different way."
